2011 - my year for...

Hi everyone!

A belated Happy New Year to you all! For those who emailed me during the Christmas/New Year period, a big thank you. I am safe and quite far away from the floods that have devastated the north east and now the south east of Australia. For all the people who have been affected, my thoughts are with you and I hope you are safe.

My bloggy break had very little to do with the floods but more to do with the fact that I have been sooo busy! Long time readers will know that I usually change the look of my blog for the New Year...unfortunately there's really been no time for that. I have been busy with the final touches for my new home, planning future renovations, getting to know my neighbours and generally just enjoying the HUGE amount of activities my new location has to offer. I am loving where I am.

The only problem is that I still haven't solved my lack of sewing/crafting space. I have gone to a home about 2/3rds the size of my previous house. And I am really missing that extra space. Its something I hope to resolve in the first half of this year.

Despite lack of space, I did manage to paint this for my living room. Acrylic, oil and enamel. Big thank you to Jess for helping me with this.

Speaking of this year, many of you know that I usually try to have a "word" for the year (since I don't do resolutions). Last year my word was "celebrate" - and boy, did I do that! 2010 for me was all about consciously celebrating with my family and friends after the sadness of 2008/2009. And as with most celebrations, I have come out of 2010 feeling grateful for having such wonderful people in my life...though (and again, like most celebrations) I am also slightly tired after such a hectic year.

So this year, I have chosen "dream". 2010 for me was very much action-based, grounded on the practical and the next steps. Now, I want to make time to those quiet moments where I let myself sift through my hopes and dreams. To work out what to let go and discover what I want for the future.

So what about you? Do you have a word for the year?

I hope you are all well.
